A small text format — name, dependencies, optional duration — parsed into a DAG and laid out as a layered diagram on canvas. Kahn topological sort gives the stages that can run in parallel, and whatever is left when it stops is exactly the cycle, reported by name rather than as a hang. Highlights the critical path and states the consequence plainly: shortening any task not on that path buys nothing at all.
