About this app

Generates a fresh maze with randomised depth-first carving, lets you walk it with the arrow keys, and will overlay the guaranteed shortest path found by breadth-first search. Explains why the two algorithms produce what they do: depth-first gives long winding corridors, breadth-first reaches cells in order of distance and so cannot miss a shorter route.
